As an entrepreneur, it is important you know your strength so you can perfect them, lean on them when needed and work on your weaknesses in order to be successful.
If you want to discover how strong you are as an entrepreneur i.e. your strength, the following are the things you should do:
(1) Knowing your Soft and Hard Skills
Every entrepreneur has both soft and hard skills and one of the steps you need to take in determining your strength is knowing the difference between soft and hard skills. Knowing the difference will take you a step further towards the success of your business or company.
Soft skills are your personal features and attributes that makes it easier to communicate with others effectively, you cannot be taught these skills, it comes naturally to you while hard skills are those you can be taught, an example is ability to speak a foreign language fluently.
An example of soft skills is the ability to listen well to people. So once you know what your soft and hard skills are and their differences, you will easily know the areas where you are lacking in and also work on it and develop whatever needs to be developed.
(2) Knowing your Biggest Win
This is another important step you need to take if you want to discover your strength. You should know your biggest win by observing and knowing what you are very good at i.e. the best of your ability, the time you felt accomplished and happy after doing a job, the challenges you naturally solve and overcome.
These are the things you should know so that you can know the best opportunities for you and the opportunities you should not try to take. You will also be able to know the skills you need for your business leverage.
(3) Asking others About your Strength
You can also ask people you trust and those that are very close to you what your strengths are, you should ask people you know will be able to answer the question and that is why i said ‘people that are very close to you’.
This is necessary in order to avoid being biased and to get opinions different from yours. Outside opinion might help in directing you to places where you are very good at and things you can do best.
It should also be people that will be honest with you and tell you the fact.
You can even ask for instances where you showed to be strong and you will be shocked to hear them telling you things you have done that you never noticed or put much importance to. It is important in maximizing your success as an entrepreneur.
(4) Know what you love Doing
You should know what you love doing, this is important because it is not all entrepreneurs and business owners that love what they do, some are just concerned about making money, what they don’t understand is that doing what you love will bring more money because you won’t even conscious of your efforts concerning the business.
You can know this by observing what you do in your limited time, what you do with family and friends, an example is talking friends and relatives out of their problems or counseling them.
(5) Evaluation of Distinction
Another step is evaluating what makes you different from others, what makes you stand out from the crowd. Knowing what makes you different from others is a very important step you need to take to determine your strength as an entrepreneur.
Knowing this will help because you will be able to use it to your advantage as an entrepreneur. You should also know what makes you better than other entrepreneurs or what makes other entrepreneurs better than you. The difference might be level of education, leadership skills, experience and so on.
(6) Deciding on what to Do
Finally, after taking all the steps listed above, you then decide on the next thing to do. Do you want to work on your weaknesses? Do you want to try another business? Will you continue with your business? Will you take the risk of improving and making changes?
