Signs You are not as Busy as You Think You Are
We all tend to believe that we are busy even when we are not, because we are afraid of hearing or accepting that we have empty time. Most people want to believe that they are busy and also want others to believe that because it makes them feel important and shows that they matter and so they pretend to be busy.
The truth is that we are all less busy than we think we are. Even if we want to believe that we are always busy, these are signs that show that we are not as busy as we think we are:
Using Time Log
If you want to know that you are not as busy as you think you are, keep a time log where you write everything you have done for a week or month. After the week or month, examine the time log carefully, looking at the number of hours you slept and the number of hours you worked, you will finally realize that you have not been busy the way you think you were.
Always Lying About How Busy You Are
One of the signs that indicate that you are not as busy as you think you are is lying about time. When you lie about the time you did something, for instance; you washed your clothes for thirty minutes then if you are asked for the period of time you used in washing or if you are explaining to your friend why you couldn’t attend the party, you end up saying you used one or two hours washing which you didn’t.
This is a sign that you are not as busy as you think you are because if you are actually busy, there is no need to lie about the time you used to wash, but you had to lie because you wanted your friend to believe that you are really busy.
When You Are Unsure
When you are doing things that you are unsure of, like being lost on the internet, going about in the house doing nothing, and so on that means that you are not as busy as you think you are.
A busy person will not be unsure of what he or she is doing, the time will not even be enough for a busy person to do all the important things he or she has listed.
If you cannot give account of how your time is spent then you are not as busy as you think you are. This is because not being able to give an account of how you spent your time shows that you are wasting your time.
In fact, if you are doing anything contrary to what busy people do then you are not as busy as you think you are. If you want to know if you are truly busy or not, study or read about busy people, know what they do and what they do not do and see if yours go in line with theirs or not.
If what you do goes in line with what busy people do then you are truly busy, if not then you are not as busy as you and other people think you are. You are just putting it up either as a barrier to certain things or you just want people to believe that you are busy.
So, to make it easier, I will list the things real busy people do so you can decide which category you fall into; the busy ones or those that pretends to be busy:
Irregular visit to see or talk to family
Always trying to meet the expectation of others
Exhaustion; always feeling exhausted
Feeling that several parts of your life is failing
Difficulty in focusing on one task for several minutes
Being unhappy with no reason
Inability to make both big and small decisions
Inability to ask for help
Constant forgetfulness e.g. forgetting what you took for breakfast
Loneliness and so on.
If these things are not happening to you, then you are not as busy as you think you are. To stop thinking you are busy while you are not is to stop telling yourself you are busy.
We humans easily believe whatever we are determined to believe, once we keep reminding ourselves and telling ourselves a particular thing, we will eventually believe it so we should keep telling ourselves that we are not busy and we will one day believe that we are not.
