1. Keep a To-Do List

This is one best time management skill you need to learn. Time management coach always advice you have one by your bed side so you can start your day with it. A to-do list tells you when you need to do something and when.

Don’t try to have everything you want to do in your head, there is a big possibility you will forget some of them and start doing the ones that are less important and time consuming.

Creating a to-do list helps you prioritize your task from more important to less important. The time you spend creating your to-do list is as important as executing them.

A to-do list not only saves your time but it keeps you organize. As you complete the tasks, you cross them out to make you know that you are moving forward.

2. Delegating Tasks

Just that when you regard yourself too perfect for a particular task, you don’t want to outsource it. You need to learn this time management skill, delegating tasks help you get more work done faster with time.

If you know a particular task is going to take you hours to finish and you know of someone you can pay a little fee more than you were paid to execute the task to get it done and even faster, then do it. No one is an island on this earth, you can’t handle everything on your own.

3. Learn to say No

You may be asking if this is a skill, yes it is. It is one self-improvement skill you need to learn to ensure your time is not wasting doing things that do not add value to you.

Say no to things that are not in your priority list, saying no allows you to focus on those things that are very important to you. If you don’t learn to say no to some things, you will surely get distracted with tasks that won’t be meaningful to you and will divert you from your major plans and goals.

4. Taking Breaks

As far you are not a robot or machine that can work for hours without any breakdown, you need to always take a break when in a long task. Why do you think there is always break time in your place of work? You think is just to eat? I bet you no.

Taking break help you gather momentum so you can continue the task at a full steam. The more time you use to gather momentum, the more productive you will be when you return back to the task.

Take breaks every three to four hours in between work to just sit back, relax and think creatively. You can go for a cup of coffee, or go for a walk (I do this most times), it relax your nerves and make you think more about the task at hand.

5. Avoid Procrastination

You already know what this can do if you are a master procrastinator. Procrastination is the thief of time and you must have heard that many times. Have this DO IT NOW mentality.

Do not put off task that are very important for later things, you might end up not doing it. One way to better learn this time improvement skill is to always tell yourself you are going to JUST DO IT NOW. It even helps save you the time you would have spent thinking if it is important to do now or not.

6. Set Goals

The habit of goal setting is a very powerful skill every person that wants to stay productive should learn. Goals give you direction, clear your mind, keep you focus on a particular task until finish and also help you saves time.

By setting goals, you are able to figure out what is worth your time and what you are to avoid. Start by asking yourself what you want to achieve by next two weeks, six months’ time or a year.

7. Minimize Distractions

With the increase in the usage of social media, avoiding distractions has become a tough challenge for many people including me. Sometimes, the time you spend answering those phone calls, replying emails, and just chatting with friends on Facebook can be a whole lot of time that can be used in doing some productive work.

I am not saying those things ain’t important, but they should not be done at the time from set for work. It may be difficult to learn this time improvement management skill but you will be happy with yourself if you do.

Always turn every device off when you are working and really want to get the job done with ease and on time. Don’t touch the remote control, turn off your phone and don’t bother putting it on silence because you might see a light beam when you get any notification and will be tempted to look.

Just do whatever it will take to avoid distraction of any kind, it will save you a lot of time.
