Adedeji Adekele with stage name, “ Davido” was born on 21st of November, 1992 to the family of Chief Deji and Vero Adeleke. His mother is late and she was a university lecturer while his father is one of the richest men in Nigeria, if not the third. He was brought up in Lagos State, and he lost his mother in 2003.
He started his music production at the age of thirteen (13). He started his education in the States and completed it in Nigeria, precisely in Ogun State at the Babcock University.
During his stay in the United States, he was a member of a musical group called KB International and this was what stimulated his interest in music and also developed his music talent. He was a part time student at Babcock University, Ogun State when he released the song "Back When" which brought him into limelight in 2011 where he featured Nigerian rapper Naeto c.
He is a singer, songwriter, recorder, producer and rapper. He has his own record label known as HKN Music which is jointly owned by him and his brother. He is an MTN brand ambassador, he was taught several music production lessons at different studios and this served as a gear and foundation in his music production. To achieve his goal, he started working with artistes like NPZ, Dammy Krane, Wizkid, Ice Prince, Tuface, Olamide, Naeto C among others.
He became more famous and popular when he released "Dami Duro" in October, 2011 and he became one of the most loved Nigerian Afro Pop singer. He owns a mansion in Lekki, Lagos State which costs about 140 million naira which he acquired at the age of twenty. He released other singles which includes "aye", "overseas", "skelewu", and "gobe". He has made collaboration with several international and Nigerian music acts on his music career.
His debut album "Omo Baba Olowo" was released in 2012 with other singles: "Back When" featuring Naeto c and other hot singles like, "Dami Duro", "Overseas", "Gbon Gbon", and so on.
In December 2012, Dr Adeleke, Davido's father leased a private jet to his last son for him to be able to perform in two different countries the same day. He was to perform at the annual Koko concert in Eko Atlantic City, Lagos organized by D'banj and also at a show in Accra, Ghana the same night which was made possible by the private jet he was given. The jet enhanced easy transportation and this shows the interest and support his dad gives to Davido's music career.
Davido has signed so many endorsement deals with big brands like Guinness and MTN in April 2012 and October 23, 2013 respectively. He once signed a #30 million deal with MTN to become a brand ambassador for them. Presently, he has been given 26 awards and 48 award nominations. Some of the awards are: BET Award, Kora Award, Ghana Music Award, Nigeria Music Video Award, Channel O Music Video Award, 5 The Headies Award, 7 Nigeria Entertainment Award, e.t.c.
He had a daughter in May 2015 with his older ex girlfriend, Sofie Momodu. He announced the birth of his daughter on social media pages on the 15th of May, 2015 and the daughter was given the largest room in his newly acquired vacation home in Atlanta. David is currently dating a nineteen year old model from Guinea, Sira Kante.
Other singles that have been released by Davido are: Gobe, Skelewu, One of a Kind, Aye, Tchelete, Owo Ni Koko, and Naughty. Davido collaborated with international artist like Sarkodie, Lola Rae, Mi Casa, with others and Tiwa Savage in June 2014 for a song for DSTV's Africa Rising Campaign. The song was meant to inspire Africans to partake in community building project.
In July 2015, Davido got a degree in music from Babcock. Davido on Twitter tweeted in January, 2016 that him and Sony BMG has signed a recording deal and this announcement gave birth to mixed reactions.
In an interview with Hiptv, Davido said that it is good to invest in property. He backed this statement up using the vacation home he bought in Atlanta as an instance, he said that it will cost much more in the next five years which makes it a good investment for him. He stated that the house is mainly for relaxation since he works mostly here in Nigeria.
Davido has also joined the league of homebuyers who are flooding the Atlanta market, which was also reported by Lux Property Investment Group (LPIG).
