Top construction companies in Nigeria are perceived by observers, as having the potential to drive the growth and development of the economy, create employment opportunities, as well as shore up Nigeria’s revenue earnings, aside petroleum.

The reason for this optimism, ironically, is predicated on the abysmal and heart-wrenching numbers that sum up Nigeria’s housing deficit. As at the end of 2015, the nation’s housing deficit was put at about 17 million units, requiring the sum of 50 trillion naira, to negate that shortfall.

To stem this tide, the following measures have been proffered: availability of cheap mortgage loans to all classes of earners, low interest rate loans to real estate developers, adoption of affordable building technologies and local materials and a review of housing laws and policies.
